Chaupai
He is a great hero, with great valour and courage, He is the companion of wisdom and intelligence.
His body is as bright as gold, With earrings and curly hair.
In his hand he holds a club and a flag, And wears a sacred thread over his shoulder.
He is the son of Shiva and Kesari, His radiance binds the entire world.
He is learned and virtuous, and very intelligent, He is always eager to do Rama’s work.
He enjoys listening to Rama’s stories, And Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita are always in his mind.
He took a subtle form and showed himself to Sita, He took a fierce form and destroyed Lanka.
He took a mighty form and killed the demons, He completed Rama’s tasks.
He brought Lakshmana back to life, And placed him on the throne of the world.
Now, let us all chant the victory of Hanuman, And let all our sorrows be dispelled.
