As incredible as it may sound, we are officially approaching the moment when Ryan Seacrest is going to pronounce the winner of American Idol season 17. But first, let’s see what the contestants were up to during the last few weeks.
American Idol paid special tribute to Queen. At that point, Top 8 contestants performed with a little help from their mentor, American Idol alumnus and Grammy-nominated artist Adam Lambert. Also, each contestant partnered up for classic movie duet performances.
And then, there were Top 6! Once again, America voted during the show, and two of the Top 8 went home. Madison Vandenburg was especially good that night, with her performance of Queen’s The Show Must Go On in front of the live audience, but also, with some dangerous-looking hairdo.
Besides Madison, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon had an amazing performance as well. But Jeremiah wasn’t alone that night; his parents were there in the audience to support their son for the first time this season while he performed Queen’s Who Wants to Live Forever.
The judges didn’t try to hide how much they were amazed. “You really embodied the spirit of Freddie Mercury with that performance,” Katy Perry said. “It was like you froze time, it was so beautiful. It was so beautiful seeing you perform in front of your parents for the first time and it’s so wonderful to see your journey.”
Luke Bryan went even further and said that Harmon tries to spoil the judges with his performance. “It was such an emotional ride and you have a real knack for that. It was a complete journey that built and built and built, and then you just took it to the next level. I loved every second of it.” “You take the band to the next level. That means you’re really doing something powerful. Your voice is something to be reckoned with,” Lionel Richie concluded.
Ryan Seacrest talked to Harmon’s parents, asking them about their thoughts and impressions. “That was very powerful,” said his a father. His dad is a pastor who Harmon said was initially not supportive of his sexuality. “It’s another great performance. I’m not very objective, but I think he’s the best one here.”
As always, American Idol was full of surprises. One of them was a seven-year-old piano prodigy Avett Maness who wowed the audience with his performance of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Maness also spoke with Ryan Seacrest and he proudly exclaimed that he is a viral sensation!
Unfortunately, at the end of the night, Alyssa Raghy and Walker Burroughs had to leave the show forever. Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Laci Kaye Booth, Madison Vandenburg, Laine Hardy, Alejandro Aranda were officially Top 6 contestants.
Ryan Seacrest: Who is the Real Idol?
American Idol isn’t just a fun music show (although it’s really fun!). Idol has been the platform that formed successful careers for Grammy award-winning musicians such as Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood. But Idol is not just about the contestant; there are also judges and their perspective. Ryan Seacrest described the roles that judges and contestants have, “Well, with the first (16th) season, you know, they had seen the show before, but they hadn’t been behind the desk before and the contestants hadn’t seen these artists’ styles behind the desk. I think what was interesting was to see how the contestants got to see what kind of a judge they were and take note of that so that when they come and audition this year, they kind of know what they want to play for with Katy and with Luke and with Lionel so that they’re on their best side.”
So who is the ideal Idol? There’s only one person who’s seen them all, from the very start, and that’s Ryan Seacrest. “I think America wants someone they can root for. They want someone they can relate to. They want a voice that surprises them. They want twists and turns. They want the rollercoaster that goes upside down at the amusement park,” Seacrest said.
When it comes to American Idol, it’s all about the journey. As Seacrest explained, it’s also about getting to know the person you’re voting for, “It really comes to you and when it’s there, it hits you in the face and, you know, that’s special,” he said.
Many people also wonder how many truly talented people actually come to American Idol in the first place. “I was surprised to see in some cities, you’d see one or two and you think, ‘Well, that’s probably all we’re going to get out of today.’ And then three more would come later in the day and that’s what we’re in store for this year,”said Seacrest and added, “I still get a little tingly in the nose and sometimes even a little tear in the eye because you meet a contestant from anywhere in the nation. You see them nervous and anxious before they audition. Then they make it through. They make it to Hollywood. They make it onto the show. Week after week after week. And one of them is standing there under the confetti before they are announced the winner. That is what excites me every year.”
American Idol Judges Used Their Save on Woodstock Night
When viewers decided that Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon and Laci Kaye Booth weren’t good enough to go to the semi-finals, Ryan Seacrest reminded the judges that this is the final week they can use their save! And that is exactly what they did. Lionel, Katy and Luke ultimately decided to push Laci through, but even she seemed surprised that she was chosen to stay over Jeremiah.
Somehow it’s possible that the American Idol season 17 Finale is around the corner. Top 5 contestants sang songs chosen by mentor Bobby Bones, one from the Elton John songbook, and one dedicated to the contestant’s hero.
After this night, Laci Kaye Booth and Wade Cota left the competition. That leaves us with Laine Hardy, Madison Vandenburg and Alejandro Aranda!
Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa Celebrate Their 2nd Anniversary on Live
Ryan Seacrest joined Kelly Ripa on their daytime journey on May 1, 2017. In other words, it’s been two years since Ripa and Seacrest started hosting one of the most popular shoes, Live with Kelly and Ryan.
For those who don’t know, Ryan and Kelly met more than a decade ago while hosting a Disney Christmas day parade. Since then, the two of them have been good friends. Ryan often visits Kelly and her family and Kelly knows a lot about Ryan and his private life.
Their chemistry was visible in the very first episode of the show and since then, it was hard to imagine that Live ever existed before Ryan Seacrest. “There’s nobody who brings what Ryan does to the table,” Ripa said at the time. “Professionalism, an ease, a family environment, which is very much like what we have here.”
Although his new schedule required him to move from LA to New York, Seacrest was never really in doubt about whether he should accept the job as he fell in love with it from the very beginning. To accommodate his national radio show, a new studio was built near the show’s Upper West side location.
“If you want to be the most successful you, people like to hear yes. They like to hear three words, one is ‘yes,’ and the other is ‘got it.’ You can tell someone ‘got it!’ and usually life is okay,” Ryan Seacrest once said and it perfectly describes his successful career.
Ryan Seacrest’s Fridge is More Organized Than You
You probably already know that Ryan Seacrest is one of the most organized people in Hollywood. So why would his fridge be any different? While Ryan has already given his fans a tour through his incredibly tidy kitchen (remember when we learned about his stack of homemade almond milk?), but now he opened the door to his refrigerator too.
In a recent Instagram post, Ryan Seacrest filmed his carefully labeled containers. But that’s not all, they were all lined in the spotless, shiny shelves inside his fridge. These labels aren’t ordinary labels; Seacrest labeled his food with words and phrases such as “Protein Shake,” and “7 Layer Taco Dip.”
Even his co-host, Kelly Ripa, was amazed by his labeling talents so she had to leave a comment on his Instagram video. As always Ripa was funny while trying to explain her feelings about the content she just saw “I was fake smoking as I watched,” she wrote.

Ryan Seacrest Uses Same Cologne for Two Decades
You may think you know everything about Ryan Seacrest, but there’s one thing you don’t know – American Idol host has been using the same drugstore cologne for the past twenty years!
The famous TV and radio host is famous for wearing sharp suits and clothes from his own fashion line Distinction. However, it seems that even Seacrest is a creature of habit because he’s been using Yves De Sistelle’s Thallium for Men for so many years now.
“Now this is a little bit random. It was given to me as a gift by a friend, I would say almost 20 years ago. I said to him, ‘Where did you get this?’ And he said, ‘The drugstore.’ So I don’t think it’s a very fancy item, but it is a cologne that I just found worked,” Ryan said. “It wasn’t too strong, but it was one that when I put it on, people actually asked me what it is. You know, at some point, you can’t smell it yourself, but I got more questions about it, and so I kept using it, and when I use it, people say that it smells good, so I stuck with it. But it’s been an old favorite for a long time.”
Besides this cologne, Seacrest’s bathroom cabinet includes Victory Barber & Brand Super-Dry Hair Paste, but also, skincare products from the Polished by Dr. Lancer range, the skincare line he partnered on with the celebrity dermatologist in 2007.
Ryan Seacrest is especially a fan of the Dual Cleanse and Shave formula, “You get to use the cleanser and the shave at the same time, and I think, for a man, anything that simplifies a regimen in the morning, especially when you’re talking about shaving and washing your face, makes it easier and simplifies it, it’s always a plus. You lather up, just like you do your shaving cream, and then it serves as a cleanser, as well,” he said.
